Progress Report

I'm doing the job search thing still and so far there is no news. My attitude is positive for the most part, but this indeed is a difficult task. As the cliché goes 'anything worth having is difficult'. Here Here.

Version 2.0 of my adventure is being built and programmed at an accelerated rate. There are bugs from Version 1.0, but hopefully the integrity of the program will remain in tact and offer better features.

Happy Birthday JC

Today is the birthday of the late great John Coltrane. Words could never describe this man because to understand him, you must listen to his music. No, you must feel his sounds of pure messy emotions.

Earlier in the day, I listened to Love Supreme like five times. For some reason, my cd player kept crashing so I would start the song over again while troubleshooting the problem. Later in the day, Nerissa emailed me and told me that it was Coltrane's birthday. Coincidence? Or something else?

.....x files outro mixed over a coltrane track.

Friday in Jersey

Tonight I went out on the town in Jersey! The club was crazy. People everywhere. Music was exceptional. Drinks were cheap.

At this point I'm sure that you are saying this can't be true. You are correct it isn't. I didn't go out tonight. The thought did cross my mind though. What is the nightlife like in Jersey? Is it as bad as the food is? Are the drinks tax-free?

There has to be some hook to draw people in. I must be going through withdrawal from not dancing in about a month. The sooner I get back on my feet; I'll be able to dance with them.

.......in New York.

Wahab is Back

Our hero is back in case you haven't heard. I spoke with Wahab today and he is very happy with Wifey and misses her a lot. I've moved his entire saga to the archive section. When he leaves for Yemen again in November, we will have updates again.

Thank you everyone who reached out to him and expressed your concerns and thoughts to him. I also want to thank Wahab for sharing this time with us and I can't wait to see what read about the next phase of his journey where he brings wifey to America.

N.D.

I went to the see the film Napoleon Dynamite today. I'd never heard of it before, but Shelly suggested that it might be good so we gave it a shot. Going in with no expectations, I left the theatre feeling like I saw a good film.

The first half of the film was questionable. It had too much 12-year old/ corny humor for my taste. I think the screenwriters realized this halfway through and gave the main characters a common goal to shoot for- the election of Pedro for class president. It won me over.

Too bad Pedro isn't running for the American Presidency.

Some Good News

Over a year and a half ago, a former landlord kept my security deposit. I knew that it was justified, so I did what any red-blooded American would do. I took him to court. 'Da Peoples Coat'.

Actually it was small claims court without the cameras but still had the same drama as the show. I presented my case, he made a fool out of himself and I won the judgment. As anyone who has been through the legal system in this country knows, it's never that quick or simple.

This clown filed an appeal on the last day possible, which pissed me of, but made me even more determined. Again, I won the appeal, but he still didn't pay me. I took further action to bring him in for a 'questioning' under oath about his financial records, but he didn't show up. The court issued a warrant but it would only be enforceable if he got pulled over for a traffic violation.

A year later, my parents get a letter in the mail from Alameda Small Claims saying that the judgment was paid to the court. It couldn't have come at a better time. Its only a few hundred dollars, but it helps.

Why did he pay at this moment in time?

PBS

Tonight was the first nationwide broadcast of the 'Lost Boys of Sudan' on PBS. It felt good to be reminded that I was apart of a great project and to see it go be successful. Let's face it my confidence isn't at an all time high right now so this was a much needed boost of self-esteem. Congrats to Megan and Jon for making this great film and thank you for bringing me on board for it.
