Twin Brother

Did you know that I have a twin brother? Yeah, that's right and can you guess his name? Give up? It's Joey. Yes I know Joe & Joey. I've heard so many comments about that but its true.

We are always polar opposites in different points in our lives. For example, I was very religious growing up and he wasn't-now I am just about anti-religion and he is super religious. He's married I'm not. He's used drugs and alcohol, I haven't. Ok, maybe I'm just an oddball on that one, but you get the idea.

For you astrology buffs, maybe its because we are twins born of a dual nature sign.....for you environmental psychologists maybe its because he was placed in a foster home before I started kindergarten. There are lots of un-answered questions that I have about all of the above.

Just as this site as helped me sort out my 'new york' adventure, I hope that writing will do the same for helping us make sense of this. I'm going to ask Joey to co-author a book roughly titled 'altered ego' where the first half of the book is his story and flipping the book over is my story. There will be no discussion on what to write, it's an experiment to see how much in sync or out of sync our lives have been.

I'll keep you informed....

Another Interview

I scored an interview for Monday with The Criterion Collection. Its a DVD based company the deals with the greatest filmmakers from around the world. Look at me I sound like a salesman already. The workday would start at 5pm, which is great. Not sure what the pay is yet, but I'll find out soon enough. Right now I just want to get a gig long enough to drop a deposit on an apartment and stack a little green for the next place I land i.e. Paris. I'm still sending out resumes 'cause nothing is certain.

Preschool Photography

I got another callback today this time from a Preschool Photography company. The pay sucks, but they give you the equipment and provide training in large format photography. In essence I would be getting paid to take a course in photography. I passed the preliminary phone interview now I will here back from the local Long Island office about the 2nd interview.

I spoke with Joey today and the book idea is a go. Its kind of crazy that we are beginning on Friday the 13th and plan to be finished by October 31st but we happen to think the number 13th isn't a bad thing.

So things are moving along and hopefully heading in a direction that means I will be in the big apple a bit longer.

Dope MC

I've got a lot of projects floating around me but I can keep up if you can. Ready for something else? I co-produced a pilot called Freestyle-Global hip hop with Terra a series exploring the global reach and influence of the culture. The good news is that we do have a letter of intent from a satellite channel to broadcast the series pending we get outside funding-hence the stand still. I got a second wave of excitement this week and I started exploring the next place we are aiming to shoot, Korea.

During research on the scene, I came across Tasha, touted as the best female emcee in the country. I battle being discouraged with hip-hop, but when a fresh passionate voice is discovered, I fall in love with the music all over again. No lie her tracks are banging. There is a back-story to her career, but I'm not going to get into that right now. I just want to pass on this info for your listening pleasure.

Pre-Game Jitters

I'm feeling a bit nervous about my interview tomorrow. The 'butterflies' in my stomach are flying around. Who came up with that saying anyway? What do nervousness and butterflies have in common?

I still have to get a haircut tomorrow and I'm thinking that finding a barber shop that's open on a Monday is a scary thought. But as they say, this is New York.

halfway home to selling my soul again........

Interview

That's the please give me a job so I can stay in New York look. Or maybe its the you are getting sleepy....very sleepy....hypnotic approach. Either way, I hope the end result means that I get the job.

I think the interview went well. I managed to actually show up this time so that was good. There are a lot of artist folk working for the company so pretty much everyone is laid back from what I can tell.

The specs include a 35-hour salary fulltime work week. Monday-Thursday 5pm-12am and Sunday would be whatever time I decide to wake up. Health and dental care provided. The gig entails supervising a staff of 2 that restore films. The films are from all over the world.

Long story short, I like it and I hope it works out. I should know something by Friday.

Mr. Algarmi

Ok, Wahab you think 'cause you are married you can just stop writing? How dare you take some time off to be with your wife! Where is the love?

Well, I think its time to let my friend ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after. I'm sure I speak for most people out there in that we really appreciate you for sharing this life changing experience with us. I know its tough to open up and share your life with the world. Even harder to share your marriage! Best wishes to you and 'wifey'.
